Before I tell you the story, I must correct you. That's a man, his name is Ron.

A little context first: Ron is an alien from the planet Helios, who decided to settle down on Earth after faking his death to get out of his life as an illegal mercenary/assassin. Kinda like Micheal from GTA V, but Ron never robbed any banks (though he did do some even more questionable things).

Pretty early in his career, he was tasked with flushing out a compound full of drug traffickers with the help of his soon-to-be best friend, Jericho. They kicked absolute ass together, kickstarting their friendship. An enemy grunt slashed Ron right in the face with an energized machete, luckily not cutting deep enough to kill him, but it did take out his left eye and left that big scar you see today. The white eyeball is actually a cybernetic replacement, and he can see out of it perfectly fine. What’s left of his original eyeball is still inside the building where he lost it.

(I made that last paragraph up as I went) (it's canon now)
