I have adopted this style because it's super manageable for me... I'll let you in on a secret.... Which isn't really a secret at all if one knows what to pay attention to.. Low poly is easy to manage, I don't have to animate any mouths, eyes are simple shapes, and the hands are just nubs. No fancy rig needed. All that combined with using mixamo to rig my characters, I did this in 1 day. I also animate with my default keyframe set to constant so I treat it like its just stop motion pretty much. SO I've found something efficient for me, but in a professional setting this kind of stuff probably wouldn't pass.... Good thing I'm not a pro I'm just a dude doing this for fun as a hobby XD
