Heh heh heh, there's some punnery going on with their names! Neil can shoot out the nails, so he's a nailgun, or Neilgun.
The three-section staff is also known as the Sanjiegun (or sometimes Sansetsukon), so Sanjay-gun.
The three-section staff is a pretty fascinating weapon to see in action. And Sanjay won't be the only one.

Indeed they are! The weapon is called a katar, a kind of punch dagger that originates from India. There have been historical variants that fold out or have guns hidden in them too.
I thought that the cannabis leaf shape would lend itself well to such a weapon, perhaps even having some catch-and-parry utility, while still looking striking. It's fun to try and think of fighting styles with unusual or lesser-known weapons.

Yo, thank you for the welcome and being my first responder on an art piece! And for the high score too, i wasn't expecting that on a piece from over a year and a half ago.

Glad you like their designs, and Jim's all the more glad for your preference :P Skeletons are timeless, but it's good to see bugs be appreciated too. I hope to supply a lot more cool characters in the future.

Sidenote, I took a look at your own gallery, and you've got some striking techniques with the fully black bodies and using different color outlines.
