Yeah, in the Sonic Shogakukan manga Nicky took his glasses off and became Sonic, but after that ended he wouldn't actually remember what he did as the blue blurr, howecer, i image there's like some character development here and now Nicky n Sonic are two sides of the same coin, rather than two one sided coins, i guess you could say. His jacket and hair style are also a reference to his father Paulie.
